Meet Josh

I am a conservation biologist, nonprofit leader, PTA dad, neighbor, and with your support, our next city council member.

Ours is a city that understands the value of third places. I want to build more:

Neighborhood cafes and groceries that anyone age 5 to 95 can easily reach with a stroll or a roll,
Playgrounds and parks within 15 minutes of every kid and caregiver,
Streets that are safe for biking and walking, a game of soccer, or conversations among neighbors,

In Lake Forest Park, neighbors look out for neighbors, and that has never been more crucial. Our third child was born days after the 2024 election. I hoped to bring my daughter into a world driven by compassion and science, where we welcomed and celebrated diversity and protected the most vulnerable.

That outcome deepened my commitment to protecting our family and our community—especially our most vulnerable neighbors—using the skills from a lifetime as a leader, organizer, and advocate.

I’m running for city council to move us forward toward the world our children deserve.

Issues — Building Community

In Lake Forest Park, we believe in the power of community and third places. I want more:

Community spaces: playgrounds, neighborhood cafés and shops, and more room in our roadways for people, not cars.
Confront climate change: build fossil-fuel-free homes; encourage clean transit with bikes, walking, and buses; and implement our city's bold climate action plan to achieve resilience to the threats a changing climate throws at us.
Community conversations to chart a future course, including a way for the community to regularly vote on budget priorities.

A career in small nonprofits has taught me to accomplish amazing things on tight budgets. I believe in dreaming big. To make them a reality, we'll have to build on a solid foundation of financial accountability and community consensus. I've done that throughout my career as an organizer and nonprofit executive.
